Need your input on a policy impacting gadgets and UserJS

Dear interface administrator,

This is Samuel from the Security team and I hope my message finds you well.

There is an ongoing discussion on a proposed policy governing the use of external resources in gadgets and UserJS. The proposed Third-party resources policy aims at making the UserJS and Gadgets landscape a bit safer by encouraging best practices around external resources. After an initial non-public conversation with a small number of interface admins and staff, we've launched a much larger, public consultation to get a wider pool of feedback for improving the policy proposal. Based on the ideas received so far, the proposed policy now includes some of the risks related to user scripts and gadgets loading third-party resources, best practices for gadgets and UserJS developers, and exemptions requirements such as code transparency and inspectability.

As an interface administrator, your feedback and suggestions are warmly welcome until July 17, 2023 on the policy talk page.

Have a great day!

Zambian wards

Hi, can you create the wards of Zambia while I do the villages? Just do “Chigaŵa cha ‘Ward name’” for the title, and if you want you can add the district name at the end, since some wards might have the same name as others   CubanoBoi   02:20, 12 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply

@CubanoBoi Sure, matter of fact I can do it fast, where is the list? Tumbuka Arch 04:37, 12 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
@CubanoBoi And request was posted on Meta yesterday here. After 2 days, they will grant you. The delay is their standard procedure, they don't grant right away within 24 hours, except granting importer rights. Tumbuka Arch 04:41, 12 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
There’s one on Italian Wikipedia, but the district is outdated for some https://it.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ward_dello_Zambia   CubanoBoi   13:52, 12 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply

Names

Should I switch every pages name with an r to an l? Is there any other letters that I should do?   CubanoBoi   19:55, 19 Julayi 2023 (UTC)   CubanoBoi   19:55, 19 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply

Also should we change Council Lakumanyikwa (Cuba) to something else? Like just “Chigawa” or something?   CubanoBoi   20:46, 19 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
@CubanoBoi Yes that is great about Council Lakumanyikwa (Cuba).
But switching an R to an L depends though.
Is there an example of such page?
Thanks. Tumbuka Arch 06:04, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
these are some   CubanoBoi   13:23, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
@CubanoBoi Oh I see. Thanks for that.
Actually, those are like that. Tumbuka has "R" in Nouns, and not much in verbs (or simply not verbs).
So they dont need changing as they are like that. Tumbuka Arch 18:09, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ah, thanks   CubanoBoi   19:03, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
Changing home main page, feel free to revert Tumbuka Arch 19:04, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
@CubanoBoi Tumbuka Arch 19:05, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
Maybe
  Ipanya
  Mzimba
  Chasefu     CubanoBoi   19:32, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
You should instead do something like
Zambia - Malawi - Tanzania
Chasefu Mzimba Ipanya
or something similar, for the countries being up top then the districts   CubanoBoi   19:27, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
@CubanoBoi Wow! Good idea. Can you copy the whole main page into your draft then try to experiment. Later you can post on main page. Feel free, nobody owns this wiki, not any native, not even me. It is being developed by volunteers who are us. Tumbuka Arch 19:32, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
Do you know any Tumbuka Tanzanian places? I just took a guess without research   CubanoBoi   19:34, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
@CubanoBoi Yes, there are many. But are not yet created/written here. Remember, we only wrote about Zambia, South Africa, Cuba, and Malawi. Tanzania is left, sadly. Tumbuka Arch 19:37, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
@CubanoBoi Try to put categories to your drafts so that you dont forget them. I categorise my drafts like this. Tumbuka Arch 19:38, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
If no one owns this wiki, doesn’t it mean that the admins should all vote for a change on the main page?   CubanoBoi   20:07, 20 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
@CubanoBoi I suggest not comparing this small wiki with big wikis that have thousands of active users daily, with millions of articles where any big or little change requires majority to vote.
Here we are only 3 people, if not two. And most of the times, I have to drag some to be active.
When I said "nobody owns this wiki, not any native, not even me" I meant that you too can make a change on main page. Meaning be free to do what you want, provided you started it from draft. But then never mind, I will be updating it as I have always.-- Tumbuka Arch 05:25, 21 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply

ABOUT SWAHILI IN MW

Is it true that the president of Malawi will promote the teaching of Swahili in Malawian schools? --Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 20:53, 23 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Caro de Segeda This is good news!
And at the same time, confusing news.
Good news that Malawi is paving way to more languages being implemented in school.
Bad news because there are so many languages in Malawi that are bigger than Chichewa which was the first to be taught in school along with Tumbuka and yet a langauge from another is being introduced.
But I understand the whole reason, they are localising Africa to use one language, which is great for Africans.Of course for business (trading), communication, etc. Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 05:59, 24 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
I would like to ask your opinion because, from my ignorance, I see Swahili aas taking over in the east, yet in the West, there are projects like this, so I understand that African countries are trying to find a means of communiticating without using European languages. What do you think? Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 06:10, 24 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Caro de Segeda True, I see it that way too.
However, I have tried to google about the news above and couldn't find Malawi sources. The TV is less on this news.
This news is big, it is supposed to be trending in Malawi. The situation here is similar to Mexico introducing Russian language in its studies for the first time. It is supposed to be trending. Do you have any links to BBC Africa regarding the incident? All I see are third parties, outside Malawi. Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 13:51, 24 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 15:00, 24 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
I trust Malawi24 as a default news source. I saw that old post too from 2022. But was looking for a recent one as other sites. Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 15:51, 24 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Caro de Segeda However the news is true and most Malawians especially Chewas are not happy with it. I read comments on fb there is a page with such heading and there are hundreds of negative comments. I see nothing wrong with Swahili adopted in Malawian studies. Even happy about it. Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 15:54, 24 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Caro de Segeda If you find some stories such as that, you should consider adding here. Can completely remove what is there and replace with new. Note that this will be seen on day like this in every month indefinitely. Now they loop up and no need to create new every day. We just need to create 31 of them in accordance to a full month. Then it will be looping eveyday, each month automatically. This category is done. Except news, and todays pics. Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 16:02, 24 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
May I ask why they are not happy with it? Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 16:46, 24 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Caro de Segeda Preferences I guess. Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 05:37, 25 Julayi 2023 (UTC)Reply
